I’m planning to use this as a sun shade when camping, as an alternative to those big square canopies that unfold. This is considerably lighter and smaller than one of those. Plus if it’s set up at the right angle, it can provide sun protection in the late afternoon when temperatures are still hot. The lighter weight and more compact size are a big deal – this is light enough that one of my kids can move it around, and it takes up less space in storage and in the car. In can go on a shelf rather than being so heavy it has to be on the floor.I do have some concerns about how it would handle in the wind, but it’s not windy here now so I can’t really test that. I have used a similar design to this before, but it had hoop poles on the ends as well as in the middle. It was incredibly stable, even in high winds. In a calm situation, this works great. The way the ends are angled out provides lots of shade, but the open ends still allow for plenty of breeze.
